Hi there, looking for a recommendation for engine and gearbox oil.

Make: Honda
Model: FD2
Year: 2010
Engine size/type: 2.0L

Any mods: OEM

Type of use (road/track): Road

Also, at what mileage should the gearbox and differential oil be changed?

We tend to recommend synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-40 and most popular are the ester based ones such as the Fuchs Pro S, Motul 300v, Millers CFS and the Gulf Competition here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

The gearbox will take a 75w-80, most popular are the Redline MT90 and the Amsoil MTF here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-670-75w-80-75w-85-mtfs-manual-transmission-fluid.aspx

Thought ild resurrect this thread. I'm currently using Honda feo 10w-30 oil and am now going to try castrol edge titanium 5w-40. What are your thoughts on that? And just like to say its 5.5L oil for the FD2R if fully drained.

My FD2R mods are J's racing fx pro headers, j's racing test pipe, j's racing 70rs cat back exhaust system, k&n filter. Hondata flashpro coming soon.

Hi,
Just purchased an FD2R and I love it. Just for my own concern I'm going to change the oils in the motor and box. It's 2008 and is stock, 63k km and I intend just to use as a road car and nothing else serious . Which oil is best to use for engine and how much?
Is the gear oil from Honda just as good? Thanks :)

Hi

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic in the engine.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT+, Motul Sport/300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Castrol Edge/Magnatec, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

You need a 75w-80 for the gearbox and the best proven options are the Red Line MTL, Fuchs Sintofluid or Amsoil MTF. The Millers TRX 75w-80, Castrol Syntrans V-FE, Gulf Syngear FE and Motul Motylgear are good alternatives.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-670-75w-80-75w-85-mtfs.aspx

The Honda MTF is okay, but it is an own brand oil, so not as good as a top end oil.

Cheers
